Special treat for the entire coach as KFC makes its first train delivery
July 25, 2015, New Delhi: Passengers on the Gorakhdham Express were in for a pleasant surprise on Friday when the world’s favourite fried chicken brand KFC threw an impromptu party on the train during its stop at the New Delhi railway station.
In order to celebrate the first delivery it made through its partnership with the IRCTC, KFC decided to deliver food not just to Abhishek Gupta, the passenger who had placed an order online, but also all the other passengers in the same coach as him.
Other than a whole lot of scrumptious food, passengers also received a whole lot of goodies from KFC, much to their delight.
Earlier this week, KFC in partnership with IRCTC announced this unique venture which allows consumers to order food from KFC while planning their travel on IRCTC. They can order food athttp://www.ecatering.irctc.co.in/eCatering/ or call 18001034139 to place their orders.
KFC India spokesperson said, “At KFC, we have always believed in growth with a big heart. We wanted to celebrate our first order received from the new venture with the IRCTC and we decided to do so with the entire coach.”
- N. Kalita, Director, Catering Services, IRCTCsaid,“At IRCTC, our primary goal has been making the travel experience convenient and comfortable. While we continue to serve Indian food as the primary cuisine, this e-catering partnership with KFC is keeping in mind evolving consumer taste and preferences. We hope to cater to a wide spectrum of food choice at affordable rates to suit the budget of our passengers”
For now, the facility is available on 12 trains passing through New Delhi railway station and will be expanded to Vishakhapatnam, Hyderabad (Kacheguda) and Bangalore (Yeshwantpur) stations over the next 10 days. Consumers will have to visit the IRCTC website or call on 18001034139 (Toll Free) to place their order. A password will then be sent by KFC to the consumer’s mobile phone which will have to be mentioned at the time of delivery.
The service, for now is limited to trains which lack pantry cars and will subsequently be expanded to trains like Rajdhani and Duronto. The e-catering service is a joint effort from KFC and IRCTC to provide fresh food to the passengers on trains.
