An air of excitement was evident at the 2nd Cultural Dialogue on Contemporary Cultural Issue at the National School of Drama recently. The event witnessed the presence of Sh. Waman Kendre (Director National School of Drama) Mr. RC Dalal (Executive Director, JD Institute of Fashion & Technology), Mr. Ajit Rai (a renowned Film Critic) and Mr. Anuj Garg (MD of IAAAN Institute of Mass Communication).

The Cultural Dialogue was addressed by Mr. Nasarullah Qureshi, The Festival Director, Bollywood Festival Norway on the gaining popularity of Indian cinema in Europe especially among the people not familiar with Hindi and English as a language. He also talked about how Indian cinema is changing the way Europe looks at India.

On felicitating Mr. Nasarulla Quershi, Mr RC Dalal said, ‘It is a moment of sheer pleasure and pride for all of us to come together and honour Mr. Quresh for his tremendous contribution in popularising Indian Cinema in Europe”.

The event ended on a note that such cultural dialogues are essential and should be initiated amongst different strata’s of the society to keep up the culture and tradition alive amongst the youth of our nation.

Mumbai, India – Acclaimed artist Brinda Miller unveiled her latest art installation, ‘The Last Drop’, at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya in Mumbai today. An eight-foot tall tap, with an over-sized bucket half filled with water, portrays the city’s challenges pertaining to water accessibility and quality. This captivating art piece was unveiled today to launch BASF’s Creator Space tour, celebrating BASF’s 150th anniversary, and will remain on display until January 23, 2015.

The body of this tap is clad with smaller taps, drawing the viewer’s eye to images from the lens of photographer Vikram Bawa, which are projected onto the water in the bucket. This distinctive piece of art depicts various aspects of water related issues in the city, underlining the paradox of shortage of potable water and the floods from the overflowing Mithi River. Hardships involving water, women standing in long queues to fill their buckets and pots, lack of education, and awareness regarding environmental issues and water wastage form the basis of the concept for this installation.

At the Creator Space tour in Mumbai, more than 250 water experts, business professionals, NGOs, academia and interested citizens will discuss solutions to water challenges and other important topics.

Mumbai, 16th January 2015: Riding the “Make in India” wave, Chennai-based Leo Prime Payment Solutions Ltd. has designed the next generation ATM called iATMS (intelligent ATMs) and has establishing a manufacturing set up to produce 100,000 units a year.

So far, the company had been a sub-assembly manufacturer for the world’s largest ATM manufacturer. But it was discontinued two years back, keeping in mind the company’s intention to enter the market on its own.

“As a sub-assembly manufacturer in the past, the company had already invested into machineries and space and has been manufacturing about 100,000 sub-assemblies for exports. Hence the entire set up to manufacture 100,000 units a year is already available,” said Mr Vasudevan, Managing Director of Leo Prime Group.

With added security features and hybrid power model, this next generation ATM has been designed to hold cash in two denominations for more than 5 days of average transaction required in an ATM.

”The existing set of ATM’s fundamental design mostly warrant a Room, AC etc, and hence thereby increasing the Capex cost and labour cost to make an ATM live. Our enhanced design can easily be grouted to the wall and hence does not require specific rooms. Deploying Leo Prime’s ATM’s will give a saving of about 25% on the Capex” Mr. Khadeer Peer Shariff, Executive Director, Leo Prime Payment Solutions Pvt Ltd said.

The innovation in design will save rentals on 80-100 square feet of a separate room, lower electricity consumption where sun rays are available, and avoiding security guards expenditure as these ATMs are patent pending in-built security and will lead to overall savings of 15% in operational expenditure, Mr. Khadeer Peer Shariff further added.

Indian ATM: User ratio is one of the poorest in the world, there is an urgent need of more ATM’s in the country. In addition

  • There is increase in the number of people opening Bank Accounts
  • More and More usage of Banking Channels for Banking as well Government activities including direct benefit transfer.

RBI has taken many steps to increase the ATM spread, by allowing white Label Operators, Small and Payment bank licenses,

Leo Prime estimates that there is an additional need of more than 200,000  ATMs in the next few  years.

Bangkok braced for Godrej Properties Golf Challenge Season Four Finale

After seven gripping city rounds and an estimated participation of 1200 golfers, the seven men field that will battle it out in the finale at the exquisite Nick Faldo designed course at Summit Windmill Golf Club comprises of Captain Cheema (Classic Golf Resort), C Sundar (Karnataka Golf Association), Akshay Kilachand (Willingdon Sports Club), Anmol Puri (Qutab Golf Course), Rohan Jaitha (Oxford Golf and Country Club), Mayukh Ray (Tollygunge Club) and D Nagaraj (Madras Gymkhana Club).

While the previous two seasons of this increasingly popular event for amateur golfers saw winners of both handicap categories – 0-12 and 13-24, qualify for the International Finals, this season has had one Final spot on offer to competitors in each of the seven club rounds. The qualifiers listed above have thus merited their entry – courtesy of posting the best gross score in their respective rounds.

Cheema was the first to earn his Finals berth, giving himself a dream birthday present in the process, when he shot a two-under-par 70 in the opening round at Classic Golf Resort  that saw him top the gross points tally. It was also enough to hand him victory in the 0-12 handicap category.

In round two at Karnataka Golf Association in Bengaluru, C Sundar missed out on winning the 0-12 handicap category itself which went to R N Shashank who posted a superior nett score of 41 points, but the two swapped places in the gross points tally where a player’s handicap isn’t taken into account. This paved the way for Sundar to seal the second Finals berth.

The third club round took place at the Willingdon Sports Club (WSC) in Mumbai where two-time reigning champion KhushaalThackersey was eyeing a third consecutive appearance at the Bangkok Finals. However, a horror start for Thackersey put paid to his hopes as Akshay Kilachand clinched the main prize after racking up a gross score of 31.

Anmol Puri celebrated a memorable double in the fourth round at Qutab Golf Course, pocketing the 0-12 handicap prize as well as a ticket to Bangkok. The fifth round saw the event embrace a new venue in the form of the award winning Oxford Golf and Country Club in Pune where, like Puri at Qutab, Rohan Jaitha also reigned supreme on both counts.  Mayukh Ray continued that trend in round six at Tollygunge Club in Kolkata before a dramatic final round at Madras Gymkhana Club saw D Nagaraj grab the last Finals spot on offer ahead of V Darshan. Both players ended up with the same gross tally of 27 points, but Nagaraj’s superior score on the back nine earned him the win.

Mumbai, 14th January 2015: One man, one mission, the first Indian, Raj Vadgama is all set to complete 10,000 km on republic day by running  over 40 cities in the four corners of the country.

Raj’s Bharathon mission started from Gateway of India in Mumbai on August 15, 2014 and covered 9000km reaching NCPA, Nariman Point at 8:30 am today. Raj will touch its ultimate 10000th km mark on the Indian Republic Day of 2015. His journey included  Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Kolkata, Bangalore, Goa, Kanyakumari, Mumbai, Pune and a few more states by running 83 kms every day.

Dream- to get Indian running! Through this pan India run, Raj wants to reach out to the youth in various geographies, identify and nurture talent, and get a percentage of the population to take to running. Through Bharathon, Raj wants to popularize marathon among youngsters between 12 and 18. His dream of setting up an academy in Mumbai is to train runners identified during Bharathon who can represent India on international platform.

Talking about his mission, Raj says,” it is a myth that running causes injuries after 30. But the fact is a person ‘s body adopt a correct posture and muscular balance for running, which can be taken up at any age”.

Vadgama represented India at the 100 km high-altitude Zendurance Ladakh run and the 1,500 km Delhi to Mumbai Greenathon in 2012, for which he was felicitated by the Limca Book of Records.

આ એવોર્ડ રેકગ્નાઈઝિંગ ધ ઈવોલ્વિંગ નીડ્સ ઓફ ધ પાસ્ટ- પેસ્ડ ઈન્ડિયન પર આધારિત થીમ પર હતા, જેમાં વાહન ક્ષેત્રમાં અત્યંત નામાંકિત નામો વચ્ચે ગળાકાપ હરીફાઈ જોવા મળી હતી. કુલ 24 એવોર્ડ ટુ અને ફોર વ્હીલર સેગમેન્ટમાં એનાયત કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા. બ્લૂમૂર્ગ ટીવી ઈન્ડિયા ઓટોકાર ઈન્ડિયા એવોર્ડસ 2015 રિલાયન્સ જનરલ ઈન્શ્યુરન્સ દ્વારા પ્રસ્તુત કરાયા હતા.

એવોર્ડસ સમારંભમાં ફોર વ્હીલર સેગમેન્ટમાં હુંડાઈ i20એ કાર ઓફ ધ યર (જ્યુરીઝ ચોઈસ) જીતીને સંવેદનશીલ પદાર્પણ કર્યું હતું, જ્યારે હોન્ડાએ કાર મેન્યુફેક્ચરર ઓફ ધ યર જીત્યો હતો. ટુ વ્હીલર સેગમેન્ટમાં સુઝુકી Gixxerએ બાઈક ઓફ ધ યર (જ્યુરીઝ ચોઈસ) જીત્યો હતો, જ્યારે હુંડાઈ i20 અને KTM RC 390એ કાર અને બાઈક સેગમેન્ટમાં વ્યુઅર્સ ચોઈસ એવોર્ડ જીત્યા હતા. એવોર્ડ વિજેતાઓની સર્વ શ્રેણીઓની યાદી આ સાથે જોડવામાં આવી છે.

We have learnt that after an eight-year gap, Firoz Nadiadwala is soon going to be back with the third film in his hit comedy franchise Hera Pheri.
The film currently titled Hera Pheri 3 will once again be directed by Neeraj Vora and has managed a coup by getting the Dostana boys John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan as leading men, in addition to Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, who will continue from the original trio.
The mahurat of the film is likely to be announced 
It is learnt that Vora saw some portions of ‘Welcome Back’ and felt John had a good comic timing in the film. “He also feels that Abhishek is quite a natural at doing funny scenes. So, there was no doubt about signing on the lead actors,” adds the source.

Mumbai Press Club, Jan. 9, 2015: Young poet Dinesh Gupta has launched his collection of poems “Kaise Chand Lafzon Men SaaraPyarLikhun”today. Although the treasury of Hindi literaturehas no dearth of romantic works, Gupta has attempted to add a new dimension to the traditional thoughts of‘love’. He is the master of making metrical depiction withsimple diction to portray feminine exquisiteness.

What is ‘love?’ In today’s busy world, how many of us think of the true nature of ‘love,’ even for a little while? The ever growing mechanization of the society is literally weeding out our subtle feelings. Today, we are almost forgetting that true ‘love’ abides in the world of imagination; it’s more a matter of feeling than an act.

Although a software engineer by profession, Gupta’s natural talent of stitching simple words soaked with romantic thoughts to form tiny poems – undoubtedly earns an exceptional distinction to him in the world of Hindi literature. In his work, he has reached the apex of emotion many times – but nicely exercised restraint on the language. Thus, lovers of all ages can enjoy the anthology of ‘love’.

 

Popularly known as ‘Din’, Gupta says, “Poetry originates from the inherent sense and feeling of human heart.”According to him, a verse isborn anytime anywhere: in daylight or night, in gladness or sadness, in win or ruin, in passion or fashion, in certainty or uncertainty and so on. “Thoughts perpetually originate in the deepest core of heart, and when right words are found to express them – a poem is born,” explains Gupta.

“Kaise Chand Lafzon Men SaaraPyarLikhun”is a compilation of deep feelings of a great lover. Young poet Gupta’s easily said ever-true expressions often makereaders recollect their own experience. Thus, while reading often the reader loses his own identity and gets mingled with the thought of the poem.

True ‘love’bestows pleasure, and once in deep love people start feeling great about themselves. Well, poet Gupta’s sensitive mind has very nicely portrayed those fantasies in lines like:
